MAMI WATA, African Goddess of Sacred Waters

Mami Wata is an individual Goddess, as well as a group of water spirits. She is the mermaid, the siren, the snake charmer, and often syncretized with orisha Goddess Yemaya as the Mother of Oceans.  Known for her beauty and dualistic nature, Mami Wata’s waters can be calm or turbulent, nourishing or destructive. She heals her devotees of all physical and material ailments, and can bring respite and peace in emotionally chaotic times. She says, “Come to me, and be restored.”
